If you are preparing for SSC CGL or IBPS Mains, English Reading Comprehension (RC) often decides the final rank. Below is a roadmap that we have used with hundreds of candidates.

Understanding the Exam Landscape

Both exams treat RC as a separate section, but the question style differs slightly. SSC CGL presents 2‑3 passages per paper, each with 5‑6 questions. IBPS Mains gives a single long passage with 8‑10 questions.

Negative marking also varies: SSC deducts 0.25 for each wrong answer, while IBPS takes off 0.33. That makes accuracy as important as speed.

Daily Study Blueprint

We recommend a 2‑hour RC slot on weekdays and a 3‑hour slot on weekends. Split the time into three blocks: warm‑up, core practice, and review.
